Warranty Policy

National Warranty

All items listed through the Batteries Expert network are covered by a national warranty. Warranty service for a defective item can be obtained at any Batteries Expert store, regardless of where the original purchase was made.

Continuity of Warranty

Following an exchange under warranty, the warranty period for the replacement battery begins on the date the original product was purchased.

Consulting the Owner’s Manual

Are the device’s behaviour and the solution to the problem listed in the “Troubleshooting” section of the manual?

Does the manufacturer provide technical support?

Were the manufacturer’s recommendations followed during:

  • Installation?
  • Use?
  • Start-up?
  • Maintenance?
  • Etc.

Manufacturer’s/Distributor’s/Seller’s Liability

Under no circumstances shall the manufacturer, distributor or seller be liable to the latter for damage, destruction, loss of property or bodily injury. This also includes loss of use of the item or any equipment in and/or with which it was used, as well as any loss of time, disruption, loss of business or consequential damage arising from or in connection with the item, and any battery transport, repair, recharging or rental fees.

Repair/Replacement

Products under warranty are repaired or replaced at the discretion of TCED INTL Inc. In the event that a product returned to TCED INTL Inc. is discontinued but still under warranty, TCED INTL Inc. may, at its discretion, repair or replace it with an equivalent item.

Proof of Purchase

Customers must produce their invoice or other proof of purchase so that we can honour the warranty.

Returns of New Merchandise (Restocking)

Returns of new merchandise (restocking) are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Items on special order cannot be returned (final sale).

Installation Fees

Installation fees are not included in the manufacturer’s limited warranty for a defective or non-functioning item. Installation fees may apply when replacing or installing an item covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

If an installation fee has been charged as a separate service, and improper installation is the cause of a malfunction or breakdown, the installation comes with a limited warranty (the duration and conditions vary depending on the installation type and location; see invoice details or retailer).

Categories

Certain product categories are subject to more specific conditions and exclusions, due to the nature of the items and their application. These may include, but are not limited to, the following non-exhaustive list of specifications for certain product categories.

North America Limited Battery Warranty

As of January 1st, 2024, we are offering up to 36 months warranty on our TCED Worldwide batteries.

Batteries eligible to be covered by this Limited Warranty are warranted to the original purchaser from the date of sale for the stated period shown at place of purchase or as advertised.

Should the battery fail within the free replacement period, due to a defect in materials and/or workmanship (not merely discharged), it will be replaced with the same model battery free of charge. If the same model battery is not available it will be replaced with a like kind and quality battery. Full warranty will not apply to the replacement battery. A free replacement warranty continues from the original battery’s date of purchase and does not extend the original warranty period. Warranty replacement costs shall in no case exceed the amount paid for the original battery.

The warranty does not cover failures that occur outside the United States or Canada.

You must keep a copy of the original purchase invoice or a reasonable copy and present it, along with the battery, when seeking a replacement battery under this warranty.

Starter Batteries

Starter batteries come with a limited warranty on their CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). The warranty does not cover batteries that have reached their normal end of life before the end of the warranty period. Depending on the application, a battery may reach its normal end of life before the end of the warranty period (inadequate maintenance, overdischarging, too many charge/discharge cycles). The warranty does not cover dead and/or sulfated batteries. The warranty is void if the battery has short-circuited (“+” & “-” ends connected). The warranty is void if the connection posts or terminals have been improperly maintained. The warranty does not cover batteries that explode (overaccumulation of hydrogen around the battery, set off by a spark, arc, static electricity or heat source).

Deep-Cycle Batteries

Discharge batteries have a limited warranty on their reserve capacity (amperage). A battery’s reserve capacity decreases with age.

Chargers, Jump Starters & Testers

The warranty applies when a product has a material or manufacturing defect attributable to the manufacturer during the warranty period.

The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage caused by:

  • Improper connection and/or use.
  • External force or damage to the device and/or device parts due to mechanical impact or overcharging.
  • Damage resulting from unintended or improper use and/or defective batteries.
